Insurance Birthday Rule
The Insurance Birthday Rule is used to determine primary and secondary insurance for dependents when each parent has insurance. Generally, the insurance plan of the parent whose birthday month and day is earlier in the year is determined to be the primary insurance for dependents. This is not a hard and fast rule and things like custody, divorce etc. can, and does, impact this rule.
Dentrix Ascend does not take the Birthday rule into consideration when adding dependents to a subscriber's insurance plan. Dentrix Ascend will assign primary and secondary insurance based on the order that the plans are attached.
