Setting Up RCM Rights in Dentrix Ascend

Setting up Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) rights in Dentrix Ascend rights really depends on the responsibilities you wish to assign. You may need to add several user roles to adequately apportion different duties.

The Insurance category holds most of the rights associated with fees, billing and insurance.

To set up a Billing/Insurance Manager—the person responsible for overseeing the team—simply check All available rights. Important managerial rights will include the ability to create or delete fee schedules and add or remove carriers.

A senior Billing/Insurance team member will have most of the insurance rights. You may wish to withhold the ability to create and delete fee schedules while including the ability to edit fees so there is a process for fixing the fee schedules as needed. This will improve the accuracy for future estimates. 

Another important cleanup function will be the rights to delete carriers and plans (thanks to paper claim payor ID errors).

For entry-level Billing/Insurance team members, exclude rights for deleting insurance plans and carriers, and exclude the rights to create or delete fee schedules. This person can do most of what needs to be done in the software. Once they prove their knowledge and accuracy, their manager could move them up to a more senior role.
