You can attach a lab case to a patient's appointment to track readiness.
To attach a lab case to an appointment
When you are scheduling an appointment or editing an appointment, click (or tap) the Lab Case tab.
Set the Lab Case switch to Yes.
The options for adding a lab case become available.
Set up the following options:
Due - By default, the due date is the date of the appointment, but you can specify a different date. However, the due date cannot be after the appointment date.
Lab name - Begin typing the name of a lab, and then do one of the following:
If the lab is not in the results list, do the following to add the lab:
Click (or tap) Create Lab.
The Create Lab dialog box appears.
Finish entering the Lab name if needed, and then enter the lab's Phone number.
Click (or tap) Create.
If the lab does appear in the results list, select it.
Note: To edit the specified lab's name or phone number, click (or tap) the Edit button next to the Lab name box.
Status - Initially, the lab case's status is Outstanding.
Note - Enter any notes regarding the lab case, such as the order number, special handling instructions, contact person, and communications with the lab. Also, you can click Insert Date to add today's date where the text cursor is located in the box.
Click (or tap) Save.
The appointment now has an icon to indicate that a lab case is attached and its status. For an outstanding lab case, the icon is a blue L on a white background.
