Adding a patient to an existing household is a common occurrence in most dental practices. This can be done very easily in Ascend. There are two ways to accomplish this task.

- When a new patient is added to an existing household, the new patient automatically has the same primary contact and primary guarantor as the selected existing patient. You can edit this after adding the patient.
- When adding an adult patient such as a spouse, update the primary contact to be the new patient (self) so patient communications can be sent directly to the patient.
