Progress notes create a record of patient care and therefore must be completely accurate. If you discover you made a mistake when posting a procedure—say you find that an extraction was recorded for tooth #19 when it should have been tooth #18—you can edit completed, planned, or existing treatment from a patient's progress notes.

- Procedures may also be edited from the patient’s Ledger.
- You cannot edit a completed procedure under any of the following circumstances: if the date is greater than the specified number of days ago set in the Ledger Rules, or if a patient payment or an insurance payment has been posted for it, or if the procedure is attached to an insurance claim.
