The latest software update is now ready for use on the Ascend beta application. Here is a list of the new features it contains.
Digital Imaging Bridges
We now have cloud-to-desktop bridges for Dexis and Romexis software. This works by installing a utility on the workstations where the imaging software is located. When a user calls the imaging software from inside the Ascend chart it passes the patient ID to call up the patient account inside the imaging software. We intend to create bridges for other imaging software but for now we are limiting our test to just Dexis and Planmeca systems.
If you are a beta tester and want to install the bridging software please contact our support team.
Electronic Claims Attachments
The billing office will now be able to attach documents to the electronic claims. This will be especially welcome for anyone who has had to manage attachment submissions separately from their claims. They will no longer have to remember their NEA attachment number and manually copy it over to the claim because Ascend handles both in a single submission.
Attachments must be be in .jpg format and there is a limit of 10 attachments per claim.
New Progress Notes Filter
As you probably already know, when you select a tooth and click on the Progress Notes tab the system filters the notes to display only those notes that are associated with the selected tooth or teeth.
We got some great feedback from one of our EAP customers, Burg Pediatric, asking for a simple way to see only those notes that are important for procedures scheduled for the current day. So we have added a new filter to the Progress Notes. Now, if you don’t have a tooth selected in the Chart and you click on the Progress Notes you will see a filtered list of notes that are relevant to any procedures which are scheduled for the current day. If you want to see all of your notes all you have to do is click the “Display all progress note” link at the top of the page.
Audit Log Filter by Location
Audit logs are a very important tool in combatting fraud and protecting patient privacy. We have implemented a new feature to filter those audit logs by location. This won’t make a big difference for practices with only one or two locations. But it will be a welcome feature for practices with half a dozen or more locations.
With this filter administrators will be able to zero in on user activity in only those locations that are important to their investigation, without having to sift through audit logs for all of their locations.
Payor Update Tool
This isn’t a tool that our customers will see, but it will make a big difference in how easy it is to maintain their insurance payors. In fact, our customers won’t have to do anything to keep their payor list up-to-date for most insurance carriers.
Henry Schein maintains a global payor list that is available to all of our customers. The update tool will help our team make sure the payor list is complete and the information is current.
In this release we’ve begun to implement treatment pre-authorization in the Treatment Planner. You should see a button to create pre-authorizations. This feature isn’t yet complete, because we have added the tool to send the pre-authorization electronically to the insurance carrier.
In our next release, in two weeks, we plan to have this feature completed and ready for testing.
If you are one of our EAP customers we invite you to test these tools and send us your feedback.
